The Grand Shinano (GS) and SC series produced by his factory were of exceptional quality. During the 1960s, the factory manufactured introductory models (13 to 43), intermediate models (53 to 63), and high-end models (73 through 93), with Shinano 73 (solid Spruce and Indian Rosewood), Shinano 83 (solid Spruce and Brazilian Rosewood), and Shinano 93 (solid Spruce\/Brazilian Rosewood) being highly revered by Japanese players and regarded as concert-grade guitars. By the late 1960s\/early 1970s, the labelling system for Shinano guitars was altered to include SC and GS models.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eWhen the guitar was first sold in the mid-1970s, it cost 20,000 yen, equivalent to about nine weeks' wages of the average annual income of 118,000 yen. During this period, bans on certain types of wood were not yet in place, allowing luthiers to source high-quality wood for their creations. Although these guitars are considered a bargain in today's market, finding top-quality Japanese classical guitars from this era can be challenging, and restrictions on exporting certain types of wood make them even more difficult to obtain. Similar guitars built with comparable materials today would cost significantly more due to the scarcity or complete bans on certain types of wood.
