A truly unique, beautiful work by Amalio's daughter Vanessa

About the Luthier

Established in 1966, all Amalio Burguet guitars are handmade in their workshop in Catarroja Spain. The Burguet family's goal is to provide top quality instruments. For this they use the best materials including solid tonewood in all models with a minimum drying time of 7 years. They also use the most innovative glue and the best varnishes on the market today.

Condition

There are very few superficial signs of use. There is no visible fretwear. The guitar is basically near mint.

There is a small discoloration spot on the front of the headstock.

The guitar is tuned to B-E-A-D-F♯/G♭-B, a perfect fifth higher than the standard tuning

Set up with D'Addario EJ-52 Alto guitar strings

The six-string alto guitar or G Guitar or Terz guitar is a smaller version of the classical guitar, designed to be fitted with lighter strings and tuned a perfect fifth higher, to B-E-A-D-F♯/G♭-B.

Terz guitar (Terz meaning third) refers to either a small sized classical guitar or to the practice of tuning a standard guitar a minor third higher than standard guitar tuning (as though a capo were on the third fret of the guitar). The scale length is generally 530 mm (20.8 inches), though sometimes as long as 560 mm (22 inches). Mauro Giuliani and Caspar Joseph Mertz wrote extensively for the terz guitar as a complement to the prime (standard) guitar.

From Valencia,  Amalio Burguet has been in charge of his own workshop in Catarroja for more than 50 years. He is tirelessly and constantly in search of a way to make the best possible guitars.

A life dedicated to making guitars.

Amalio Burguet was born in Catarroja, a small village near the sunny city of Valencia in 1951. From a very young age, he developed a great ability to make guitars by working in various workshops. It was in these workshops that he made his first guitar in 1966 and became an expert in series production

However, he admired the guitars that were totally handmade , hand crafted in a one man workshop . Soon he resumed his musical training, years of conservatoire and began to look deeper into the most artisanal aspects. This involved studying the treatment of materials more in depth, especially the treatment of wood and the construction processes
In 1984 he realised his dream, he opened his own workshop in Catarroja. It is here where he applies everything he has learned, making innovative high quality handmade guitars, at the same time affordable for everyone, students and professionals. In short, Amalio is the alma mater  of the small family workshop. A whole life dedicated to the artisanal development of the instrument that he is obsessed by, the Spanish guitar.
